Columbia Business School
Social Entrepreneurship — Venture for All®

Overview
I completed the Social Entrepreneurship course through Columbia Business School's Venture for All® program — an initiative that brings Columbia Business School's curriculum to students globally. The course focused on how entrepreneurs can build ventures that create both social and economic value.
Working through real-world case studies and frameworks used at Columbia Business School, I developed an understanding of social enterprise models, impact measurement, and how to identify and address underserved needs through business innovation.
Key Themes
Core areas covered across the social entrepreneurship curriculum.
01
Social Enterprise Models
Explored different structures for ventures that pursue social missions — from non-profits and B-corps to hybrid models. Analysed how social entrepreneurs balance financial sustainability with measurable community impact.
02
Impact Measurement
Learned frameworks for defining, tracking, and communicating social impact. Examined how ventures identify the right metrics to demonstrate value to stakeholders, funders, and the communities they serve.
03
Problem Identification & Opportunity
Applied design-thinking approaches to identify underserved needs and translate them into viable venture concepts. Practised moving from problem definition through stakeholder analysis to initial solution design.
04

Studied how social ventures grow — from early-stage validation through partnership development, resource mobilisation, and strategies for scaling impact without losing mission alignment.
